If it moves, it dies.
IN the evening, a touch of magic happens in the kitchen of Jaclyn Umali, a home baker who recently found a sweet spot in the cake market made up of pet lovers.
In an hour of so, cute creatures made from sugar can take form and inhabit her kitchen. She will use them to decorate cakes for pet lovers who are tickled pink to have personalized cakes adorned with figures in the likeness of their cats or dogs.
“Right now, I specialize in customized cakes but my family and friends still consider my cookies my specialty. I've done a few animal inspired cakes since I started making customized cakes, but I only began making cat sugar figures when I participated in Cat Care Philippines' fund raising bazaar last June,” said Jaclyn who named her little sweet business as Cakesmith.
The cakes are six inches in diameter while the decorative cats are at least two inches tall. A cake comes with one cat, but cat owners usually order more so all their cats are represented. Additional cats cost P50 each. -- MetroPets
