If it moves, it dies.
CATS wearing fanciful hats and Harry Potter inspired scarves turned a recent Sunday gathering of cat lovers at the Ayala Triangle Garden into something like a dress rehearsal for Halloween.
The hats and scarves are creations of Nina Sharlene Briones who expertly crochets these novelty pieces for a living.

Two years ago, Nina took a crochet hook and yarn to create glass coasters, dog hats and pet carriers. It was only fairly recently when she made her first cat hat for a cousin joining a pet fair. Little did she know that more people would want the same for their cats until the orders start coming in.
Nina tapped a friend to help her fulfill the orders she's been getting for customized pet hats. She said they could each finish three simple hats a day or two if the design is a little complicated. With an eye for creating original designs, Nina decided to call her home-based business Just One Of A Kind Handcrafted Products.
“I work hard and devote my craft into these creations. I cannot please everybody but the customers I have encountered so far are wonderful to work with. Their sample photos are challenging but these help us to improve our craft. Our products are sold online and we get orders through recommendations from previous clients,” said Nina.
Nina only charges P175 for every cat hat she crochets (plus shipping cost). She expects to get more orders for pet hats and other wearable pieces as Halloween approaches. In the near future, she said she would like to extend her product line to include pet sling carrier, pet diaper cover, pet dresses, fun character costumes, coasters in animal themes and more.

Here's one for your #catgoals.
A revolutionary cat carrier, one that is like a drawer so getting a cat in and out of it will be easy, is in the works and should be shipping in December if the inventors get their much-needed crowdfunding.
The Glover family from the United States is running an Indiegogo campaign to raise $100,000 next month so they could finalize production and shipping of the MagiCarrier.
The MagiCarrier is designed to end the struggle that ensues every time a person tries to load a defiant cat or other small pet into a carrier. The MagiCarrier's main chamber can slide out so a person only need to put a cat or other smaller animal inside it and then push it back in.
With the MagiCarrier, one no longer need to force a pet into a carrier again. Getting them out is also just as easy. The inventors said “the sliding action acts on an animal's natural instinct to crouch down and hang on when the floor beneath them is moved. When their center of balance is disrupted and they lose their footing, they don't try to jump or run until they are steady.”
HOW IT WORKS
This first slide-out cat carrier helps cats remain calmer, especially when they are visiting their veterinarians.
Simply place a cat in the open drawer, and slide it in! The cat will be focused on maintaining its balance and will be safely secured and ready for travel before it realizes what happened.
The MagiCarrier has a snap-lock made of metal pins. Turning the handle engages the snap-lock and locks the sliding drawer into place to ensure safe travel.
The sliding drawer is walled all the way to the back so the cat can not try to keep out of human's reach as they usually do with ordinary cat carriers. Once the MagiCarrier's drawer slides out, the cat goes with it. The edges of the drawer are raised at least six inches high to avoid paws from getting pinched or stuck when the drawers move.
The inventors promise to give those who will help them in their Indiegogo campaign some nifty items that they have previously developed such as K-Kat metal wire litter scooper and KittiKot disposable cat beds.
Devoted cat lovers know the struggle is real and this product is something they can use. The MagiCarrier will retail for $79, but crowdfunders will be given handsome discounts. As of posting (16 days to go before campaign ends), the Glovers have raised $28,378 from 201 backers.
