Pawpular Pet: Logan the Welsh Corgi

HE is no superhero but he can knock everybody's socks off with his fluffy butt. Logan is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi after all with the power to charm humans to follow where his little legs go, at least in Instagram.

The preferred dog of royalties, particularly England's Queen Elizabeth II, corgis are usually well cared for and are no stranger to the finer things in life. But Logan is one down-to-earth corgi who loves to snack on kamote (sweet potato) and befriend aspins (asong pinoy), said Ruth Carino, the dedicated owner of Logan.

Logan has already spent a good part of his young life (he is only turning three this year) traveling to weekend spots with his pawrents. The four-legged local tourist frequents Baler, Aurora, La Union, Real, Zambales, Laguna, Batangas and Tagaytay. He's also been to Baguio. Logan journeys to these hours long destinations the best way possible—asleep.

When Ruth isn't busy with her day job, she tries to feed the world with photos and videos of Logan on Instagram (@loganthewelsh) where he accumulated over 25,000 followers to date.

Ruth said Logan's strong Instagram following is one she didn't see coming, but she thinks Logan's adorable videos lure people in. In fact, a major US dog brand has bought one of his videos.

“He doesn’t have as many Instagram followers as other dogs, but his engagement is extremely high. Some videos have reached almost 200,000 views even,” added Ruth.

Here's a video of Logan refusing to wake up for their trip to Baguio City.
In the real world, Logan, although generally a people pleaser, is not a fan of those who wear a mask or a hat. “That’s why when he's off leash in the beach, we have to watch out for profiles that will likely trigger it. But he wouldn’t bite, just chase and incessantly bark at them,” said Ruth.

When it comes to other dogs, Logan is particular about proper introductions which are supposed to start with the other dog smelling his butt first before his face. Failure to follow this ritual gets Logan agitated as he sees himself as an alpha dog. It is his butt after all that is the trademark of Ruth's new pet care product line called Fluffy Butt.
