A 15-month old dog from Olongapo City is attempting to make a Guinness World Record for its impressive ability to walk on its hind legs.
Popoy Bullet, said to be a cross between a Dachshund and a Jack Russell, can walk for 30 minutes on its hind legs according to his owner Jun Sapilan.
Sapilan said he didn't teach Popoy Bullet to walk erect. “I just taught him how to sit up and stand up for a long time. Now, knowing what the dog can do, Sapilan said he is training him to walk like a human at least for 30 minutes.
A friend of Sapilan took it upon himself to contact the Guinness World Records so Popoy Bullet's unique abilities can be recognized. The official entry made for him was “World's Fastest Dog Running on Rear Two Legs”. The application was entered only on June 27, 2016 and is now pending for review and verification.
Here's a video of Popoy Bullet walking along a street in his back legs.
Sapilan and Popoy Bullet usually go out for a walk on Thursday and Friday. Sometimes, Sapilan even takes his special dog to where he works.
“He is an obedient family dog and easy to teach. He is people friendly and doesn't bite. There are those who criticize what we do but I tend to ignore them because most people who saw Popoy Bullet find him cute and amusing,” said Sapilan.
But there's something that the Facebook dog sensation doesn't like: cats.
In 2014, a Pomeranian dog from Los Angeles, California made two new world records: the fastest 10mins on hind legs (6.56 seconds) and fastest 5mins on front paws (7.76 seconds).
