Animal Welfare Coalition, a duly registered non-profit, non-government organization, is asking for donations to help cover Pacio's medical costs.
“Please donate for Pacio's surgery and post-surgery medical expenses. The veterinarians are all giving their services free of charge,” said Animal Welfare Coalition in a Facebook post.
Pacio (or Pacquiao) was shot in the face which shattered his lower jaw and cut off most of his tongue. A team of six veterinarians and two assistants performed initial surgery on Pacio to fix and stabilize his bone fragments with pins. Bone grafts were also set in place before stitching his gums closed.
To complicate matters, Pacio has septicemia (dirty blood) caused by the infection in his mouth. Pacio has also developed problems in his liver and kidney functions.
But through it all, Pacio fought for his life even if he had to eat through a nasal tube in his mouth.
Pacio has received some attention from presidential candidate and Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte who was briefed by the Davao team of veterinarians, animal welfare volunteers and lawyers about his case.
If you wish to offer help for Pacio, please course it through AWC with their details below.
